IELTS Life Skills

The test to take if you are applying for the following types of UK visa: family visa; extension to family, spouse or partner visa; indefinite leave to remain or citizenship.

IELTS Life Skills test is for candidates who need to prove their speaking and listening skills at levels A1 or B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). This is a single test covering speaking and listening skills.

The test is available at 2 levels:

  • IELTS Life Skills – A1 Speaking and Listening
  • IELTS Life Skills – B1 Speaking and Listening

What’s the format of the test?

You will take the test with an examiner, and with one other test taker. Your own performance on both speaking and listening will be assessed during this one session.

 

The tasks in IELTS Life Skills are designed to reflect the everyday experience of communicating in an English-speaking country. You will be expected to take part in short discussions on everyday subjects including:
